Hand painted Vejigante Masks

Vejigantes masks are symbols of joyful resistance. The Vejigante folkloric character is from Puerto Rico - they have a fun-loving, mischievous persona, and show up in festivals while dancing and singing with the crowds. These decorative masks are an artist’s representation of the traditional Loiza-style Vejigante mask.

Each mask is made out or paper, and carefully hand painted. They are fitted with turquoise stone horns and a wire in the back for hanging. Each piece is a unique work of art and is signed by the artist.
